Let It Shine looks at a child's development rather than chronological age, creating an individualized plan to help each child prepare for Kindergarten. Let it Shine believes that a child must achieve a state of regulation prior to being able to learn and engage with peers. A child's behavior is a form of communication and the ability to be socially and emotionally aware is vital to success in later years.

Our Curriculum:

The Let It Shine Enrichment Academy Curriculum was developed by a speech and occupational therapist. It is a developmentally appropriate, research based curriculum that takes a multi-sensory, language based approach to teaching fundamental skills for school readiness. Through play children are able to grow and learn from one another as well as develop skills to promote daily function. The Let It Shine Curriculum focuses on the following areas of development:

  • Gross Motor Skills

  • Fine Motor Skills

  • Social Skills

  • Reasoning & Cognitive Concepts

  • Language Skills (Receptive & Expressive)

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Science

  • Creativity

Activities will be adapted to meet the child at his or her developmental level to promote optimal learning. Let It shine Curriculum will also include social-emotional and mindfulness curriculum that teaches compassion and empathy to preschool students. Students attend chapel weekly, engaging in Christian songs and Biblical stories told at a 3-4 year old level. Students will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with therapy dogs throughout the year.

Our curriculum goes beyond the classroom. Let It Shine strives to educate and involve the family by providing daily reports, parent conferences, and parent education seminars. Licensed counselors are on staff at Bethany Lutheran Church and are available to families to provide support when needed.
